Cal Rishephoto courtesy of Buffy Hall Midland's Cal Rishe, a third-grader at Woodcrest Elementary and a member of the Midland Dolphins swim program, broke a 32-year-old record in the pool recently. Competing in the 8-and-under age division, Rishe swam a time of 2:33.21 in the 200-yard freestyle to beat former Dow High standout Greg Strickler's previous Dolphins' record of 2:43.53, set in 1991, by more than 10 seconds. Rishe, whose favorite event is the backstroke, is also closing in on the Dolphins' 8U record in the 500 freestyle, with a personal-record time only a half-second off the record.
