KENT COUNTY, MI – Kentwood police on Monday, March 20, are investigating a 'swatting' incident in which a 911 caller falsely reported a shooting with several people injured. The caller reported the shooting at 5:37 a.m. in the 300 block of 48th Street, east of Jefferson Avenue. Police responded but there was no shooting. The homeowners were unaware of any 911 calls. There were no other reports of gunshots in the area, police said. The identity of the caller is unknown, police said. Swatting calls are pranks intended to draw large numbers of police officers to an specific address.
