KENTWOOD, MI – Looking to train with the men and women in blue? The Kentwood Police Department is offering a free program designed to show high school students what it's like to be a police officer. The deadline to apply for the Kentwood Police Department Youth Academy is Thursday, June 1. All graduating seniors and students who will be a sophomore, junior or senior in the 2023-24 school year, with an interest in a future career in law enforcement, are encouraged to apply. Last year, the program that launched in 2019 had about 15 students.
